Data we process

We process the data you provide: name and email address (account), your recorded books, notes, ratings and reading data, and – for paid plans – the information required for payment.

Purposes & legal bases

We use this data to provide the service (performance of contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), for billing, and to improve and secure the platform (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Payments (Mollie)

Payments are handled by Mollie B.V. The data required for the payment is transmitted to Mollie; its own privacy policy applies in addition.

AI features

For AI features (assistant, automatic descriptions), the relevant inputs are sent to our AI provider to generate the response. Only the content needed for the request is transmitted.

Book metadata

To automatically complete book data and covers, requests may be sent to external services (e.g. Google Books).

Cookies & session

We use a technically necessary session cookie to keep you logged in and store your language preference. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

Retention

We keep your data as long as your account exists. After account deletion, the associated data is removed, unless legal retention obligations apply (e.g. invoices).

Sharing

We do not share data with third parties except where required to perform the contract (e.g. payment processing) or where legally obliged.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. To exercise these, contact contact@virtualibrary.lu. You may also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority – in Luxembourg, the CNPD (Commission nationale pour la protection des données).
